I just received a great suggestion for the webring from Carrcakes!

On the first and third Monday of each month, I will post a writing prompt for all blogging members to write about.

Once a topic is posted, members may add their contribution to their own blog and then sign the comments saying they have participated. Each bi-monthly topic will be kept in the archives as well as a link to all the participating member’s posts.

Please email me with any suggested prompt to be considered. Remember to use the subject line “Blogging Prompt”.

The first prompt will be posted on the third Monday of February! Each prompt will have it’s OWN page with the prompt and a link to each participant’s post. A prompt may be a question, the beginning of a sentence, a few lone words, or anything else!

Feel free to email me with any questions, or leave them in the comments!

Member Of the Week: Authentic Loving

Our first member of the week is Authentic Loving !

Go check her out and leave her a message of congratulations! We will have lots more information up about her soon! Please leave any question you’d like her to answer in the comments. OR, post your favorite quote from her blog!

Here are the first few questions:

1. How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging since June of 2003 @ Pointy Shoe Factory. After turning the PTSF into a baby blog (during pregnancy and afterward) I decided to start a new blog about the little man & me & our wild and crazy adventures. I have been blogging on GGC since October of last year.

2. What made you start a blog?
I started GGC to meet other like-minded Momz who could articulate their experiences in exchange for reading about mine. I started reading Bite My Cookie’s blog (formerly Bite My Cookie and now temporarily here ) and was in awe of the mommy support going down. It has been hard for me to make mommy friends in Los Angeles so GGC was a great way for me meet clever and creative moms.

3. What is your greatest challenge as a mom?
My greatest challenge as a Mom is trying to juggle my work with my family. I am finishing a novel I have been working on for four years. I get very overwhelmed having little time for myself. I also work from home. Every day is an exhausting juggle of priorities.

I blogged about this here.

4. How do you keep your identity as a PERSON, outside of being a mom?
See above link! Also I continue to live as I have BB (before baby.) I go to rock shows, museums, the symphony, weekend trips. I get dressed up to grab coffee with Archer. I exercise and take care of myself. I take advantage of being in the city, even though I am a stay at home/work at home Momz.

5. What one piece of advice would you like to pass on to moms everywhere?
The only advice worth listening to is the advice you ask for. I have found that people have made my mothering their business. Strangers even. You know your baby more than anyone does. Tell everyone else to suck it.
